VERTICAL GROUP Ltd. is participating in the implementation of a large-scale project to secure and strengthen rock slopes along the Struma Motorway – a key infrastructure corridor with an increased risk of erosion processes, landslides and falling rock masses.
The project covers an area of over 50,000 m² and includes a complex of specialized strengthening activities, carried out through rope access and industrial mountaineering in difficult-to-reach and steep terrain.
The activities carried out include:
scaling and cleaning of rock slopes;
removal of unstable and eroded rock masses;
laying of erosion control mats for hydroseeding;
installation of high-strength stabilization nets;
anchoring using IBO R 28 anchors;
installation of steel cables for uniting and stabilizing the anchor systems.
The goal of the project is the long-term stabilization of the slopes and the limitation of the risk of landslides and falling rocks in the vicinity of the motorway section.
Due to the significant elevation changes and the hard-to-reach nature of the terrain, the activities are carried out using the alpinist method via rope access and industrial alpinism.
This method allows for:
safe work on steep slopes;
access to hard-to-reach rock sections;
efficient execution in constrained environments;
minimal use of heavy machinery;
flexible organization of the work process.
Working on such infrastructure sites requires high technical training, specialized equipment, and strict adherence to safety measures.
Within the project, specialized reinforcement technologies are used to stabilize rock masses and limit erosion processes.
The installed high-strength nets and anchoring systems aim to:
reinforce unstable sections;
limit the movement of rock masses;
prevent rockfalls;
increase the safety of the road infrastructure.
The use of IBO R 28 anchors and steel cables allows for the construction of a reliable slope reinforcement system in areas with increased geological risk.
The Struma Motorway passes through complex mountainous sections where the maintenance and securing of rock slopes are essential for traffic safety.
