Emergency collapse of rock slopes Kalotina

Project:

Emergency collapse of dangerous rock slopes on road III-8001 at km 3+500

Contracting Authority:

"Infra Expert" AD

Location:

Kalotina village, road III-8001

An emergency collapse of dangerous rock slopes was carried out using the Alpine method;

The total area of the processed and secured rock sections amounts to 5,835 m²;

Unstable rock blocks and compromised rock masses at risk of collapse have been removed;

The collapsed rock mass was collected, loaded and transported up to 5 km away;

All activities are carried out by certified height workers, specializing in rope access work (alpine method);

The work was carried out in compliance with all safety requirements and traffic organization in the area.

“Vertical Group” Ltd. carried out emergency works to collapse and secure dangerous rock slopes using rope access (alpine method) on road III-8001 in the area of the village of Kalotina.

The project was implemented with the aim of preventing incidents caused by falling rocks and unstable rock masses, threatening traffic safety in the area. As a result of natural erosion processes, atmospheric influences and compromising the rock mass, dangerous overhanging blocks and unstable areas with a high risk of collapse have formed in the slopes.

As part of the implementation, manual collapse of the rock slopes using the alpine method was carried out, removing unstable and eroded rock masses throughout the compromised area. The activities were carried out in difficult-to-access terrain, with increased safety requirements and risk control during work.

All work was performed by certified industrial climbers and height workers with experience in emergency road infrastructure protection and working in high-risk rock sections.

The rope access method allows for quick and effective implementation of emergency reinforcement activities in steep and difficult-to-reach terrain without the need for scaffolding, closing large sections of the road, or using heavy machinery on the slope.

After the collapse was completed, the rock masses were collected, loaded, and transported off-site, ensuring complete cleaning and restoration of the road section’s safety.
