SCALING OF ROCK SLOPES
VERTICAL GROUP Ltd. carries out professional rockfall removal and rockfall removal in the immediate vicinity of road, railway, energy, industrial and civil infrastructure. The activities include controlled removal of surface eroded and unstable rock masses in order to increase safety.
Rockfall removal is a specialized activity for removing dangerous and unstable stones from rock and earth-rock massifs, aimed at preventing incidents caused by uncontrolled collapses. Through the systematic cleaning and securing of slopes, the risk of landslides is reduced and greater stability of the terrain is ensured.
The process is essential for the safe operation of various infrastructures, buildings and facilities, but does not completely eliminate the risk that may occur after heavy rainfall or icing, since erosion is a constant and dynamic process. Therefore, the collapse of rock massifs is often combined with the meshing of rock slopes or the implementation of additional protective and strengthening measures.
IMPLEMENTATION TECHNOLOGIES
The securing of risky areas by rockfall is carried out using the so-called alpine method by high-altitude workers with many years of experience, certified for working using the rope access method.
VERTICAL GROUP Ltd. applies proven and innovative technologies for rockfall, using both manual and mechanized methods depending on the terrain and the degree of risk:
Manual collapse
Manual rockfall is used for finer and more difficult to access areas, where workers remove unstable rocks using crowbars and specialized hand tools. In the presence of rotten trees or compromised vegetation that poses a risk of landslides, it is removed with gasoline cutters or chainsaws. All activities are carried out by rappelling by climbers working using the rope access method.
MECHANICAL ROCK SCALING
Mechanized rockfall removal is used to remove large and massive rock blocks that threaten road, railway and other critical infrastructure. VERTICAL GROUP Ltd. uses specialized equipment such as hydraulic splitters, fire cushions and jacks, ensuring controlled, efficient and safe removal of rock masses.
AREA OF APPLICATION
The collapse of rock slopes and the securing of rock massifs are widely used in the following areas:
- Roads and railways – during construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of transport infrastructure to prevent landslides and falling rocks;
- Construction sites – when constructing buildings and infrastructure facilities where there is a risk of unstable rock slopes;
- Tourist sites and natural parks – in mountainous areas, eco-trails and tourist routes to ensure the safety of visitors;
- Urban environment – in areas bordering dangerous rock massifs, for the protection of residential and commercial buildings and pedestrian spaces;
- Mining industry – in open pit mines and quarries to ensure safe working conditions and protection of equipment;
- Hydrotechnical facilities – in the construction and maintenance of dams, reservoirs and canals for stabilizing banks and rock slopes.
