"Road Maintenance - Veliko Tarnovo" Ltd.
Road II-55 "Veliko Tarnovo - Gurkovo"
Rock slopes were collapsed over an area of 97,320 m²;
A network of rock slopes with steel protective nets has been completed on an area of 97,320 m²;a
28,480 anchors have been installed to strengthen the nets;
Installation of galvanized steel ropes with a total length of 85,210 m was carried out;
All activities are carried out via rope access by certified technicians for working at height;
The work was carried out while ensuring traffic safety in the area.
We have implemented a large-scale project to secure and strengthen rock slopes on road II-55 in the Veliko Tarnovo – Gurkovo section – one of the strategic mountain roads in the country, characterized by steep slopes, complex relief and increased risk of landslides and falling rocks.
The project was implemented within the framework of Program 2002 and aims to significantly increase traffic safety by stabilizing the rock slopes and limiting the risk of accidents on the road route.
In the first stage, the rock slopes were demolished, during which unstable, cracked and eroded rock masses were removed. This activity is key to ensuring long-term stability and preparing the slopes for subsequent strengthening.
Then, the slopes were meshed with steel protective nets, which effectively retain falling rocks and limit their movement towards the roadway.
To ensure reliable fastening of the nets, anchoring was carried out with a large number of anchors, which guarantees the stability of the system even under dynamic loads.
Additionally, galvanized steel ropes were installed, which strengthen the structure and contribute to the even distribution of loads over the entire area of the slopes.
All activities were carried out using rope access (industrial mountaineering), which allowed work in large and difficult-to-reach areas with high efficiency and without the need for heavy mechanization.
