NETWORKING OF DRYANOVO ROCKS – TSAREVA LIVADA

Project:

Elimination of the consequences of a natural disaster in a landslide area in the Dryanovo - Tsareva Livada inter-station area

Contracting Authority:

"Gazstroymontazh" JSC

Location:

Dryanovo – Tsareva Livada

Trees and shrubs were cut down and the terrain was cleaned over an area of 14,629 m²;

Rockfall collapse was completed on an area of 7,369 m²;

Rock masses in a volume of 465 m³ were cut;

A meshing of rock slopes with steel protective nets has been completed on an area of 2,500 m²;

Safety channels with a total length of 1,075 m have been constructed;

Measures have been implemented to stabilize and secure the landslide area;

All activities were carried out via rope access by certified technicians for working at height;

The works were carried out taking into account the specific conditions of the railway infrastructure.

We implemented a comprehensive project for emergency restoration and securing of a landslide area in the Dryanovo – Tsareva Livada inter-station, affected by a natural disaster that led to significant landslides of earth and rock masses.

The project aimed to restore the safe operation of the railway infrastructure by stabilizing the terrain, removing unstable masses and constructing protective facilities against future landslides.

In the initial stage, a large-scale cleaning of the terrain was carried out by cutting down trees, bushes and vegetation, which provided access to the affected areas and created conditions for the safe implementation of subsequent activities.

Then, the rock slopes were demolished, during which unstable and eroded rock masses that posed a risk to the railway route were removed. Additionally, rock masses were re-sloped in order to form a stable geometric profile of the slopes and reduce stresses in the rock massif.

In areas with increased risk, the slopes were networked with steel protective nets, which limit the movement of rock fragments and protect the railway from falling rocks.

As part of the overall protection system, protective channels were built, designed to drain surface water and reduce the risk of erosion and subsequent landslides.

All activities were carried out using rope access (industrial mountaineering), which allowed for effective work in steep and difficult-to-reach areas, with minimal impact on railway traffic and without the need for heavy mechanization.
